Backyard Classic 1999 |
Cincinnati, Ohio, June 19-20, 1999 |
The expansive grounds that are Tammi Skillman's back yard. |
This year's Backyard Classic was held at the beautiful home of Tammi Skillman, located in sunny Cincinati Ohio.
We don't have any pictures from the first event, Obedience, because
it started on time. But thanks to Jody
Petry, we do have the results.
Click on any of the small pictures below to get a big version in a
separate window.
Next came Conformation, so of course here is Sailor holding his Best
Of Breed ribbon, same as every year:
And here is Roy with his Best of Breed ribbon from the second
show, same as every year:

After that came some relaxing time for people to get friendly with their
dogs.
Maybe a bit too friendly sometimes:
Showing true Backyard Classic spirit, Jamie showed up wearing a picture
I took of him at last year's BYC:
Karen and Riley posed with their mom:
Of course, we all know what comes out of the end of Riley, as he demonstrated at last year's National Specialty in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Then in the afternoon there were some more shows and people won ribbons.
Since no one asked me to be the official photographer, I don't have
any official pictures,
but here are some unofficial pictures taken in the style of official
pictures:
After that came dinner, and another chance for people to get friendly
with their dogs:
And finally the Bumper Toss, where Hickory came in second by only ZERO
POINT ZERO FIVE SECONDS!
Dobro supposedly won. You can see all the other bumper toss pictures,
including the blurry ones, by clicking here.
If you can figure out who any of these dogs are, let us know.
The next day was the field day, so everyone dressed in camo. Debbie
dressed in camo and tried to look tough:
Hickory passed the water part of his WC:
At the end of the day, people won more ribbons:
To see the best pictures from both days (a total of about 100), click here (a page of thumbnails will open in a separate window, click on any thumbnail to see a full size version open in a separate window).
To see all the pictures, use our Backyard Classic 1999 Picture Archive, which contains about 625 pictures from the show. (Please note that picture assignments are not perfect. If you don't see a picture under the name you expect, try looking it up by date instead. If I took it, it is there.) As with all our pictures, the URL includes the names of the people/dogs in the picture: Your browser probably displays the URL in a line at the top or bottom of the window, so you can tell who is in the picture.
Our full-site Picture Archive contains a far larger number of pictures, including more of the same people you'll see in the Backyard Classic archive.
