1982 Graduated from the University
Laboratory High School
at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Senior research project using radioactive tracers to monitor
restriction enzyme digestion of DNA.
1986 Graduated with B.S. in chemistry from the
University Of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign.
Junior year spent at the
University of Göttingen
at Göttingen, Germany.
1987 Dropped out of a PhD program in theoretical chemistry at the
University of California at Berkeley

Dead end project involved semi-classical simulation of molecular
dynamics.
1987 Began work on what was to become the Mathematica Notebook
front end.
I was the sole designer and principal author of the user
interface of Mathematica.
1988 Co-founded Wolfram Research,
Inc
with Stephen Wolfram
and 4 others.

1988-present principal author and design lead for the Mathematica
notebook front end versions 1-4 and counting.
Currently Director of the User Interface department,
and member of the executive committee with particular responsibilities for
technical strategy, legal analysis, and general panic abatement.
