Nickel
A shiny, silvery metal that is resistant to corrosion and easily worked. It is used extensively in alloys, particularly stainless steel.

Many metals are purified by electro-deposition, basically electroplating run for a very long time to build up a thick layer of metal. For some reason while most metals purified this way are supplied in the form of broken plate, nickel typically comes in the form of these buttons.

We are actually not entirely sure of the origin of these nickel balls. They appear to be the result of an electrowinning process, but could also be from a chemical reduction process.
