Polonium
A radioactive, volatile semi-metal found in U and Th ores where it forms as a transient decay product. The longest lived isotope has a half life of 3 years.
 Antistatic brush Antistatic brush.
This brush uses a small film of polonium, safely encapsulated under a layer of gold, to discharge any static electricity in the area of the brush. The beta particles (electrons) emitted from the polonium make the air around the brush tip slightly conductive, allowing the brush to neutralize static charge on objects it is passed over. The half-life of the isotope used is fairly short, requiring the user to instal a new cartridge every few years.

Radioactive Firestone spark plugs Radioactive Firestone spark plugs.
Sold during the 1950's when all things radioactive were in fashion, these spark plugs claimed to use polonium to improve engine performance. Presumably the idea was that the beta emissions facilitated the spark by ionizing the air around the spark gap. This idea was, for lack of a better word, goofy.
