Several metals are ductile and malleable enough that they can be beaten into incredibly thin sheets, far thinner than any conventional foils. The classic example is gold leaf, which is widely used to decorate picture frames, statues, etc. Leaf like this so thin and delicate that you need special brushes just to pick it up without tearing it.
