Paul Wellin (4)Paul Wellin, who works at Wolfram Research, was visiting the periodic table one day and I said, "gee, I'd really like to run into an orthopedic surgeon some day, who might have some left over titanium or tantalum body parts". Upon which Paul says, "Oh, that's no big deal, my brother is an orthopedic surgeon and he's got all sort of bone pins and stuff lying around". He made it sound like this was the most mundane request ever. He said he'd send some my way, and I was expecting maybe some two inch pins, which would have been great. But when the stuff came, well, it was just incredible! You have to see for yourself, so go click on titanium.
