Molybdenum
A shiny silver metal which belongs to group 6. It is widely used to produce alloys with special properties and also in the glass industry.
 Plate Plate.
Although molybdenum was discovered as long ago as 1781, it was not until 1959 than the metal was first cast in bulk form. This is due to its very high melting point: over 2,600 degrees centigrade. The same property gives rise to one of the applications for molybdenum in making furnaces for melting glass.

 Bolts Bolts.
These pure molybdenum bolts are used in high-pressure, high-temperature chemical reaction vessels, where their high price is justified by their ability to withstand the exotic conditions and retain their strength.

 Molybdenite Molybdenite.
Molybdenite takes its name from the Greek for lead, molybdos, with which it was confused. It is as soft as talc, lead gray in color and closely resembles graphite in appearance. Occurring as disseminated masses, scaly, flexible scales and as crystals, molybdenite is the main ore of molybdenum.
