| | |   Nickel plating electrode. This is an electrode meant to deliver current to an electroplating bath.  Nickel is a fairly corrosion resistant metal, and much cheaper than some of the better alternatives (platinum for example).  An electrode like this can also be used in a mode where it is intentionally dissolved away slowly, supplying nickel ions to be electroplated onto an object on the other side of the electroplating bath.  When done on a large industrial scale baskets full of nickel blocks are used instead, but for small-scale table top plating an electrode like this can last a long time.
