Spark Plugs (13)Spark plugs are kind of like golf clubs in the sense that some people will do just about anything to squeeze an extra ounce of performance out of their car and/or golf game. This provides a ready market for people willing to claim that including one element or another will make a better spark plug/golf club/mousetrap. For example, tungsten-weighted titanium golf clubs. In the case of spark plugs, the concern seems to be long life (hence the use of corrosion resistant metals like platinum and iridium), and getting a good spark going, hence the desire for sharp points and a silly use of radioactivity.
